[Style/Color: Red] [Dryness: Dry]
[Variety: Pinot Noir]
This northern-grown Pinot Noir recalls a time when the wines of Les Riceys were as highly esteemed as the finest Burgundy wines.
2,000 bottles produced
Harvested entirely by hand in successive passes according to optimal ripeness, with initial sorting carried out in the vineyard. The grapes are transported promptly to the winery in small perforated boxes, followed by a second manual sorting on a vibrating table. After total destemming, the must is transferred by gravity into open vats for a Burgundy-style vinification, with gentle extraction through foot treading and a maceration of approximately one week. Fermentation proceeds with natural malolactic conversion and minimal sulphite addition. The wine is then aged for 9 months, with 75% in tank and 25% in three-year-old Burgundy barrels, before a further year of bottle ageing to enhance its complexity and integration.
Clear, deep yet luminous garnet red in colour. The nose is fresh and finely nuanced, revealing aromas of Burlat cherry alongside subtle hints of smoke, peony and red berries. On the palate, it is lively and precise, with a clean, uncluttered profile supported by fine, fresh tannins that lend structure and length. Approachable in its youth for its vibrant fruit, yet capable of developing greater complexity with time in bottle.
