"Capitulos" (Chapters) is Conde de los Andes new range of limited wines which explore specific aspects in our vineyards.
Malvasia Riojana old vine plated in 1975. The vineyard is located in the Riarán area, just north of Haro and near the historic Roman bridge over the Ebro River. It sits on limestone-clay soils with an ideal level of acidity, which helps produce lively and expressive aromas. The climate is Mediterranean with a strong Atlantic influence, providing balanced conditions for vine growth and fruit ripening.
The grapes are hand-harvested during the first half of October. After a gentle pressing, the must ferments and remains on its fine lees in new fine-grain French oak barrels for three months, with weekly stirring to optimize the process and periodic racking done by gravity. The wine continues to age in the same barrels for six months before bottling, followed by an additional year of bottle aging to develop complexity and balance.
Young gold in colour, brilliant and inviting, the wine shows an intense and balanced nose with pronounced floral notes and subtle hints of smoke, delicate and suggestive. The palate is very fresh, revealing gentle white fruit flavors and nuances from fine oak ageing. It finishes soft, persistent, and very pleasing, with excellent ageing potential.
