Collection: Tantaka - Juanjo Tellaetxe

Tantaka is the deeply personal project of Juanjo Tellaetxe, a priest and former shepherd whose life has always been rooted in the land. After being a partner at Bat Gara, a leading estate in the appellation, Juanjo returned to his family vineyards in Artomaña, in the Arrastaria Valley of Álava, to craft wines under his own vision. Farming organically and working with minimal intervention, Juanjo’s philosophy is to craft “honest wines with deep local character, avoiding manipulation and masking.” Since launching Tantaka in 2016, he has produced vibrant, mountain-influenced wines that combine freshness with depth and complexity — authentic expressions from one of Spain’s smallest and intimate appellations - Arabako Txakolina.

Arabako Txakolina, also known as Txakoli de Álava, is the smallest and most exclusive of the three Txakoli denominations in the Basque Country — with only eight wineries in total. Located south of Bilbao, the appellation stretches across five municipalities in the Ayala Valley. Historically a significant winegrowing area before phylloxera, the region has seen a careful revival focused on quality, identity, and indigenous varieties.
